Election Process and Related Information

By | October 24, 2007

Dear Community Members,

As you may be aware by now, our community had reviewed and made several changes to our Constitution to effectively address the changes we went through over the years. Alhumdu lillah, the constitution was ratified by a large number of the community. One of the primary requirements of the constitution was to conduct the general election for the office of the Board of Trustees (BOT). Since then the following process has occurred:

  • The date for the General Election was notified on several community gatherings
  • A Nomination Committee was established and was similarly announced
  • Candidates were invited to complete the forms and run for the office of BOT
  • Completed Candidate Forms were gathered and reviewed by the Nomination Committee. Names of successful candidates were to be posted on our website.

It has come to the Board’s notice that some of the members of our community were not aware of the election and was unable to participate in this momentous occasion. The BOT has wisely decided to extend the date of the General Election in compliance with the requirements of our constitution. We hope this extension may give opportunity to all members to complete the Candidate Form and submit it by October 31, 2007 deadline.

Additionally, there were questions regarding the election process and the one time exception permitted by the new constitution. To clarify any concerns or questions, the BOT has called a Special Meeting for our community on:

Date: Saturday, November 3, 2007
Time: 5:00 pm sharp
Place: Az-Zahra Center

The General Election for the BOT is on November 24th, 2007 after Salat-e-Maghriban Saturday, December 1st at 5:00 pm.

Please remember that is of utmost importance that you participate and be aware of the process and your responsibilities. Each of us has the obligation to choose the best persons to represent the community. May All-h(swt) accept your effort and reward you immensely.

Was Salaam,

Hajj Jameel Agha
