Salaam Alaykum,

With the Grace of Allah (swt) and by the du’as of so many mu’mineen, today we were blessed with wonderful news and I wanted to share it with the Az-Zahra community right away. After a long debate and a few expected objections at the full commission meeting, Az-Zahra prevailed. Alhumdu lillah, the cemetery project was successfully voted in. It was a total consensus with 9-0 vote in favor. Even those who raised objections crossed on to our side and voted with us. The objections were mainly related to the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, money to run it, the perceived effect to the neighborhood property values, contamination of ground water, etc. But Allah (swt) softened the hearts of the commissioners. They were eventually convinced that we are a capable and responsible community and agreed to grant us our wishes. All that is left now are a few fine points. We will insha’Allah have a completely operational cemetery in place in the next 30-45 days. Our attorney, surveyor, and a few other “team” members have promised to tackle this promptly and would have cemetery documents recorded with the county – a minor but necessary requirement. I have no doubt that there would be no further objections going forward, insha’Allah.

I will explain the details, if need be in the General Body meeting, insha’Allah. We hope to call one after the conclusion of Ramadan. There are a few large expenses associated with this project that need to be addressed. If anyone wants to contribute towards this or want to donate as a “nadr” on behalf of their loved ones, please contact any of the board members. The BOT would like the community to come up with ideas of fundraising and creative thinking to meet these expenses. We hope everyone will pitch in generously, insha’Allah.

On behalf of the BOT, I extend our heartiest Mubarak to all for this accomplishment. We must be eternally thankful Allah (swt) for granting us our wishes.
